Team Daiwa S-Series Low Profile Bastcasting
Reel
This reel is
not cheap but it is a dream to cast. It took a lot of saving but I finally
sprung for it and have no regrets. I first used it at Strawberry in Last
October. The magetic brake and super smooth action made it easy to use even
while wearing gloves. It is hard to explain to the casual observer why somebody
needs a $150 reel but once you've used one, you can't go back.
Shimano Sahara 2000 And 4000
I
decided that I was going to outfit myself with two baitcasting combos and two
spinning combos. For my second spinning rig, I looked at a lot of reels. The
Sahara has instant anti-reverse. It may not have the bearing count that the
Pflueger has [only 3] but that Fluid Drive II system that Shimano has makes up
for it. It is nice. Actually I use the Shimano more often than the Pflueger. I
strapped it on a Berkley Bionix Rod. It really is fun to throw spinners and
crankbaits with this rig. The price was right too under $60. I added another
Sahara. This one is a 2000. I moved the 4000 to my Medium Heavy Bionic Blade
and put the 2000 on my Medium Action Berkley Bionix.
Pflueger Supreme Spinning Reel
I
had purchased a few of those department store combos initially but after a few
outings, I finally had the experience to make some intelligent decisions on
reels. This one had all of the features that I was looking for. The most
important being instant anti-reverse. I love the fact that when I go to set the
hook, the reel is ready for the task. No matter where I stop cranking, the reel
would budge!. Secondly, this baby is packing 8 bearings for smooth action. I
used to be a big "Rear Drag" advocate but the "Front Drag" on this reel has
convinced me otherwise. I don't normally mess with the drag but to me, the
front drag seems more naturally positioned.
Quantum Microspin
This is
one of my Ultra-lite reels. When it is not on my ice fishing rod, it can be
found on an Ultra-Lite Ugly Stick. I really enjoy going after panfish with
Ultra-Lite gear.

other Ultra-Lite reel. My Ultra-Lite reels do double duty. They move to my ice
fishing rods over the winter.

I like
this tackle "box" because it is totally modular. With a little planning, you
can detach and take only the sections that you will need.
